Researcher warns of data-snooping bug in Apple’s Safari

applecrack_wallpeper_set_by_neodesktop1Apple’s Safari web browser for Mac and Windows suffers from a serious vulnerability that can expose emails, passwords and other receptive contents of a user’s hard drive, a researcher has warned.

Those using Mac OS X 10.5, aka Leopard, are vulnerable to the data-snooping bug even if they use Firefox or another alternate browser. Apple has yet to block the gaping hole, so the only way users can currently protect themselves is to change RSS reader settings in Safari’s preference panel.

Windows users are also vulnerable, only if they are using Safari. It’s probably a good idea for Windows users with Safari installed to leave it closed and use a different browser. Read more…

FrontHomePagez.com and how it is ruining many a PC! Watch out!

FrontHomePagez.com, also known as FrontHomePagez.com/security/xp/ or FrontHomePagez.com/security/vista, is the latest browser hijacker from Trojan Zlob, to be wreaking all sorts of chaos on the internet as we speak.

FrontHomePagez.com attempts to frighten and ultimately coerce computer users purchasing a rogue anti-spyware program (like AntivirusTrigger, Antivirus Trigger), by using the W32.Myzor.FK@yf fake warning message, and claiming that upon purchasing the phony anti-spyware applications, you will be able to rid your system of the W32.Myzor.FK@yf infection threat! Bear in mind that this is a scam, and no amount of software purchasing will ensure your PC’s safety.

The warning message that most often pops up once a system has been infiltrated reads like this: “Warning! W32.Myzor.FK@yf is a virus that infects files with .exe extensions. It attempts to steal passwords and private information from the infected computer.” This message has the so0le purpose of instilling fear in the user’s mind, and further coerces the purchasing of malicious software. HomeSiteRenew.com/security is the latest browser hijacker – a website with malicious code. Experts warn all PC users top simply refrain from checking out the site altogether,as a single visit to HomeSiteRenew.com/security means that your system may already be in jeopardy and severely compromised.  computers____sigh_by_rgus

HomeSiteRenew.com/security is an example e of yet another rogue anti-spyware browser hijacker. It is quite easy for this browser hijacker to infiltrate any given system, as you could be browsing the web, and all of a sudden, out of nowhere a HomeSiteRenew.com/security popup will appear. The pop up varies, but in most cases it will allude to your system being infected with the W32.Myzor.FK@yf virus.

An example of the type of message alert you may receive is as follows:
“Warning! W32.Myzor.FK@yf is a virus that infects files with .exe extensions.”

This message urges you as the user to click on “OK” (as it claims to be able to rid your system of the virus if you click on “ok”). Once you have clicked on “OK” you will then be redirected to a site which urges you, as the user, to purchase the malware application: Antivirus Trigger. Read more…
