Bottom line is don’t use Windows :-)

I have used Windows for about 15 years and started using Linux (Ubuntu) about a year ago and have never looked back. Any product that does not exist on the base install just google and you will find a list of equivalents.

The other cool bit is the plug and play. No stupid wizard. Just plug it in and that’s it.

Misconception about open source. If an open source application is OPEN then we can all see the code so no one would put dodge code in it as we would all see it. The same can’t be said about a pre compiled “*.exe* file that you download.

And did I mention it is FREE and you do NOT need an anti virus

Go on take the plunge. We all have at work also and what we realise is that we all have different desktops as you have the ability to manipulate the OS to match the way you like to work and not the way MS thinks you should.

Good advice on being proactive. I would also add you should ensure your anti spyware definitions are up to date and you perform scans on a regular basis. Once a week can be a pain but it really helps to prevent your system from being infected.
